The City of Colby has a variety of boards and commissions that advise the Governing Body. The members of each of these boards are appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the majority of the Councilmembers. If you are interested in serving on a board or committee please complete the application form and mail it to the office of the City Manager, 585 N. Franklin Avenue, Colby, KS 67701.
Meets monthly on the 1st Tuesday at 8:30 A.M., alternating between the Council Chambers at City Hall and the Airport Terminal meeting room.
Board of Building Appeals:
Meets as needed at the call of the Building Official.
Convention & Tourism Board:
Meets monthly on the 3rd Tuesday at 8:15 A.M. in the Chamber of Commerce Office.
Thomas County Economic Development Alliance Board:
Meets monthly on the 3rd Thursday if there are four Thursdays in the month and on the 4th Thursday if there are five Thursdays in the month. Meetings are at 9:00 A.M. in the Economic Development Office.
Housing Authority Board:
Meets monthly on the 2nd Monday at 5:00 P.M., Housing Authority Office.
Meets monthly on the 3rd Tuesday at 7:00 A.M., Pioneer Memorial Library.
Colby/Thomas County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission:
Meets monthly on the 1st Thursday before the 3rd Tuesday at 9:30 A.M., Council Chambers, City Hall. Hears requests for zoning changes and approves development plans making certain that plans comply with City ordinances and the Comprehensive Plan.
Meets monthly on the 2nd Monday, 6:30 P.M., Recreation Department Office, Colby Community Building.
Meets as needed at the Colby Airport.
Board of Zoning Appeals:
Meets as needed at the call of the Building Official, Council Chambers, City Hall. Administers the application of the zoning ordinances and hears/determines appeals from the refusal of building permits and permits exceptions in accordance with the purpose, conditions, and procedure specified by the Governing Body in zoning ordinances.
